Pool Tender Week Inches Closer
An Athabasca town councillor won't review pool tender submissions ahead of the public opening next month.

That's because council took over seven motions at a previous meeting before they finally appointed Interim CAO Doug Topinka and Director of Finance Donna Anderson.

Topinka was already expected to review the bids, and was asking for councillors to be involved as well.

There was push back from Tanu Evans who questioned the need for a special committee to review the tenders, while adding that sufficient information surrounding costs hasn't yet been released to the public.

"We're accountable to the ratepayers," Evans said, suggesting all of council should look at the tenders ahead of the opening and not just a select few.

Prior to those discussions, council agreed to meet with Athabasca County when needed, so that they can review and award the pool tende simultaneouslyr, if that's what they choose to do.

Topinka noted that was how the Multiplex tenders were handled.
